The Peer Support Specialist draws upon their personal growth experience to deliver the message of hope and recovery to individuals who are currently enrolled in treatment for substance abuse and mental health services.  If you enjoy working with individuals during some of the most vulnerable times of their lives this may be just the opportunity you’ve been seeking.

Responsibilities

Terros Health is hiring Peer Support Specialists for locations in the following areas:

Phoenix, AZ

Glendale, AZ

Tempe, AZ

 

Most positions are Full-Time, 40 hours/week 

Monday-Friday, 8am-5:30pm

 

Peer Certification Required - we can help you obtain this! 

Must Have a High School Diploma/GED and at least 6 weeks of Behavioral Health Experience

Starting at $17.18/hour 

 

 

 

Peer Support Specialist Duties Include:

  • Cultivate and secure a connection with the enrolled individual, while teaching personal responsibility and serving as a mentor and role model
  • Serve as an advocate for residents, support them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services and provide encouragement 
  • Assisting residents in articulating their goals for recovery, learning and practicing new skills
  • Helping residents monitor their progress, supporting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self help strategies based on the specialist's own recovery experience
  • May be asked to provide direct services to individuals such as outreach and engagement, linkage to community supports, transportation, and group facilitation

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED and at least 6 weeks of behavioral health experience in order to meet BHPP requirements. 
  • Peer Certification required (we can help you obtain upon hire) 
  • Meet the definition of a Peer: A self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder, or a family member of an individual who is a current or former recipient of addictions services.
  • Exemplify great customer service and motivational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with flexibility, and within prescribed deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, Outlook.
  • Must have or obtain a valid Arizona Driver License, be (21 years of age) with a minimum 4 years driving experience. Must meet requirements of Terros driving policy.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card (Level 1) or apply for one within 7 working days of beginning employment.
  • Must pass a TB test.
